LARGE STONES

Large Natural Diamonds

Natural diamonds from 3 to 10+ carats, sourced individually for important center stones and exceptional commissions.

Sourcing Large Diamonds

Large natural diamonds are sourced one stone at a time. Above three carats, every stone has its own character, and small differences in color, clarity, proportions and fluorescence have a visible effect. A client commissioning an important ring or pendant expects the stone to be reviewed carefully, not selected from a list.

Kether Diamonds sources large natural diamonds from 3 to 10+ carats according to a defined brief, and presents options with complete grading information and visual media.

What to Include in Your Brief

  • Shape and, for fancy shapes, length-to-width ratio
  • Carat range, for example 4.00–5.00 ct
  • Color and clarity ranges, and which factor has priority
  • Cut, polish and symmetry requirements
  • Fluorescence tolerance
  • Minimum face-up dimensions if the stone should look a certain size
  • Setting style, if already decided
  • Budget, destination and required date

What to Review in a Large Stone

At larger sizes, color becomes easier to see and inclusions are larger in absolute terms. A clarity grade that is invisible in a one-carat stone may be visible in a five-carat stone, so the type and position of inclusions matter as much as the grade itself. The plot on the GIA grading report shows where the main inclusions are located.

Proportions affect how large the stone looks from above. Two stones of the same weight can differ noticeably in spread. We recommend reviewing the measurements alongside the carat weight, and always reviewing video of the actual stone before approval.

Flexibility and Availability

Availability of large stones varies by shape and quality. A brief that states which criteria are essential and where flexibility is acceptable — for example one color grade either way, or a slightly wider ratio range — makes it easier to find the right stone quickly.

GIA Grading Reports

Every diamond sold by Kether Diamonds is accompanied by a GIA grading report. The report records GIA’s grading observations for the submitted stone, including carat weight, color, clarity and, for round brilliants, cut grade, together with measurements, polish, symmetry and fluorescence. Buyers can verify the report details through GIA’s official Report Check service before approving a purchase.
