MATCHED PAIRS

Matched Natural Diamond Pairs

Natural diamond pairs matched by shape, dimensions, color and clarity — for stud earrings, drop earrings and three-stone designs.

Why Matching Matters

In a pair of earrings or the side stones of a three-stone ring, the eye compares the two diamonds directly. Small differences in size, outline, color or brilliance that would go unnoticed in a single stone become obvious when two stones sit side by side. A well-matched pair looks balanced; a poorly matched pair looks like two unrelated stones.

Kether Diamonds sources natural diamond pairs according to defined matching tolerances, so the finished piece looks intentional and consistent.

What to Include in Your Brief

  • Shape and, for fancy shapes, length-to-width ratio
  • Carat weight per stone or total weight of the pair
  • Maximum difference in weight and dimensions between the two stones
  • Color and clarity ranges, and whether both stones must share the same grade
  • Cut, polish, symmetry and fluorescence requirements
  • Intended use: studs, drops, side stones or another design
  • Budget, destination and required date

Matching Criteria

We review pairs on several levels. Measurements come first: diameter for rounds, or length and width for fancy shapes, should fall within the agreed tolerance. Color and clarity should be the same grade or adjacent grades as specified. Proportions such as depth and table percentages influence how each stone faces up and should be close. Finally, visual review of photos or video confirms that the two stones look alike in brilliance and outline.

For side stones, the pair must also complement the center stone. Where possible, include the center stone’s details so the pair can be selected in proportion.

Pairs Within Larger Orders

Matched pairs can be sourced individually or as part of a larger production requirement, for example several pairs of studs in the same size and quality range. Please state the number of pairs required and whether the pairs must also be consistent with each other.

GIA Grading Reports

Every diamond sold by Kether Diamonds is accompanied by a GIA grading report. The report records GIA’s grading observations for the submitted stone, including carat weight, color, clarity and, for round brilliants, cut grade, together with measurements, polish, symmetry and fluorescence. Buyers can verify the report details through GIA’s official Report Check service before approving a purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

How closely can a pair be matched?
Tolerances are set in the brief: for example weight within 0.05 ct, dimensions within 0.10 mm and the same color and clarity grade. We source within the tolerances you define.

Do both stones come with GIA reports?
Yes. Every diamond sold is accompanied by its own GIA grading report, so each stone in the pair can be verified.

Can you match side stones to my center stone?
Yes. Share the center stone’s details and we will select a pair in proportion to it.

Can I order several pairs?
Yes. State the number of pairs and whether all pairs must be consistent with each other.
