GIA DOCUMENTATION
GIA-Documented Natural Diamonds
Every diamond sold by Kether Diamonds is accompanied by a GIA grading report. Here is what the report covers and how professional buyers can use it.
Why GIA Documentation Matters
For professional buyers, a grading report provides a shared, independent reference for the stone being traded. It allows a jeweler, retailer or manufacturer to compare options on the same basis, to communicate the specification to their own clients, and to verify that the stone delivered is the stone that was approved.
Every natural diamond sold by Kether Diamonds is accompanied by a GIA grading report.
What the Report Includes
A GIA diamond grading report typically records:
- Report number and date
- Shape and cutting style
- Measurements
- Carat weight
- Color grade
- Clarity grade, with a plot of characteristics
- Cut grade for standard round brilliants
- Polish and symmetry
- Fluorescence
- Proportions diagram
- Inscription, where the girdle has been laser-inscribed with the report number
What the Report Does Not Do
A grading report records GIA’s observations for the submitted diamond. It does not certify the seller, guarantee a price, or endorse a transaction. Professional buyers should still review photographs, video, measurements, commercial terms and, where possible, the physical stone.
Using the Report in Your Business
For retailers, the GIA grading report is also a sales tool. It gives the end client a clear, recognised description of the stone they are buying, and it simplifies after-sales questions such as insurance appraisals, resetting or future servicing. For manufacturers, the report number provides a simple way to track individual stones through production and quality control.
When you submit a sourcing request, you can specify report-related requirements, such as a minimum cut grade for rounds, polish and symmetry grades, fluorescence tolerance or the presence of a girdle inscription. These criteria are then applied when options are selected and presented.
How to Verify a Report
GIA’s official Report Check service allows anyone to confirm the details of a report using its number. When a stone carries a girdle inscription, the inscribed number can be compared with the report under magnification. We encourage buyers to verify report information before approving a purchase.
